Architectural design in GstarBIM

GstarBIM models a building as coordinated, intelligent objects rather than lines — so a change to a wall reaches the plans, elevations, sections and schedules that depend on it, project-wide, without redrawing anything.

GstarBIM Architectural design

Parametric modelling that stays coordinated

Walls, doors, windows, roofs, columns, beams, stairs, ramps and railings are all parametric objects. Edit one and every view that shows it updates with it. It is CAD precision with BIM consequence — which is what makes documentation fast rather than merely accurate.

  • Design phase filters — New, Existing and Demolition — so refurbishment work is modelled honestly
  • LOD options from 100 through 400, matched to the stage you are actually at
  • BIM parameter management across the whole project
  • Linked files and central-model collaboration for multi-discipline coordination

From a flat drawing to a model

Most Indian practices have a drawer full of DWGs and scans, not models. GstarBIM generates 3D BIM models from 2D DWG or raster floor plans, and its floor-plan generator will lay out complete plans and rooms from a wall outline and a set of parameters — a realistic way to start without re-drawing the back catalogue.

Massing, roofs, site and terrain

Wall shaping supports curved and polygonal forms while keeping component associations intact. Roof tools are parametric down to eaves, purlins, rafters, tiles, skylights, dormers and gutters. Terrain models build from elevation points, contour lines or imported survey data, with Google Maps terrain import and .kmz exchange with Google Earth.

FAQ

Common questions

Can GstarBIM handle refurbishment and retrofit projects?

Yes. Design phase filters distinguish New, Existing and Demolition elements, so a refurbishment model can carry the existing building and the proposed work in one project and produce drawings for each.

What level of detail does it model to?

LOD 100 through 400, set per project. You model to the level your stage and contract require rather than over-detailing early or under-detailing at construction stage.

Can we start from our existing DWG drawings?

Yes — GstarBIM is DWG-native and generates 3D models from 2D DWG or raster floor plans, so an existing drawing set is a starting point rather than something to redraw.
