From laser scan to editable model
Refurbishment and as-built work starts with a survey, and increasingly that survey is a point cloud. GstarBIM reads the mainstream formats and converts cloud data into editable, parametric BIM objects — not a frozen mesh you can only look at.
The formats a surveyor will actually hand you
GstarBIM works with .las, .rcs and .e57 point clouds, and links them rather than only importing, so a large survey stays manageable. The output is parametric building objects you can edit, schedule and document like anything else you modelled.
Why editable matters
A mesh tells you what is there. A parametric model lets you propose what will be there — walls you can move, slabs you can schedule, services you can clash-check. For refurbishment, retrofit and heritage work, that distinction is the whole job.
If you would rather not do it yourself
Scan-to-BIM is slow, systematic work and it is exactly the kind of production our own team takes on. If you have the scan but not the hours, we will model it for you to your standards — the software and the service come from the same place.
Common questions
Which point cloud formats does GstarBIM support?
The mainstream survey formats — .las, .rcs and .e57 — both imported and linked, so large scans stay workable.
Do we get an editable model or just a mesh?
An editable, parametric BIM model. Converted elements behave like modelled objects, so they can be changed, scheduled and coordinated rather than only viewed.
Can QuantX BIM do the scan-to-BIM conversion for us?
Yes. Scan-to-BIM modelling is part of our back-office delivery service, so you can buy the licence, the modelling, or both.
Try it on your own project
A 30-day trial, a quote in rupees, or a conversation about whether GstarBIM fits how you work — whichever is useful.
